Letter: Community rallied to support CASA

keyboard, letter to the editor

To the Editor:

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Kendall County is very grateful for the support we have received from the community. They rallied as funding sources vanished and the number of children doubled during COVID-19.

Paradise Carwash hosted a Haunted Carwash along with Grandma Rosie’s and Mike & Denise’s, and they donated the proceeds to CASA. We hosted a virtual silent auction, where tons of local businesses, including almost every restaurant/bar/bakery, Home Depot, most salons, local crafters, local photographers, Starbucks, the YMCA, auto shops, etc., donated to make it a success. 100-Plus Women Who Care chose CASA this quarter to give their donations to. There’s around 80 members of sweet women in that group. Local networking group Goal Diggers chose to give CASA its group’s dues for the year. Kendall County Democrats generously donated more than $1,000 in gift cards to help make some of our families’ Christmas extra special. Facebook group Yorkville Area Moms and Grace Holistic Center for Education sponsored more than 100 children to make sure they all had an amazing Christmas. Cornish Chiropractic donated its new patient fees from the whole year to CASA.

With more than $55,000 lost from canceled events, these amazing local businesses and groups truly helped us survive the year.

CASA of Kendall County is a nonprofit organization that serves abused, neglected and abandoned children through the recruitment, training and continued support of volunteers who advocate and mentor these children, representing their best interest in the courtroom and other settings.
