Aggravated assault under investigation

Oswego police took a report of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property at 9:54 p.m. July 20 in the 90th block of Fifth Street. Police said the victim in the incident, an 18-year-old male from Montgomery, was not injured, but property damage was estimated at $150. Police said their investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Retail theft under investigation

Oswego police are investigating a theft that occurred from a retail store at 2:07 p.m. July 21 in the 1500 block of Douglas Road. Police said merchandise valued at $830 was taken from the store.

Motorist ticketed for aggravated speeding

Oswego police ticketed Jesus A. Chavez, 18, of the 800 block of South Calhoun Street, Aurora, with aggravated speeding after stopping the vehicle he was driving at 4:21 a.m. July 21 in the northbound lane of Orchard Road at Tuscany Trail. Police said Chavez was driving 35 mph over the posted speed limit on Orchard Road. He posted bond at the scene and was released pending a court appearance.

Suspect sought in Route 30 incident

Oswego police are seeking a suspect by the name of Angel Lopez in connection with a fleeing and eluding and obstructing justice incident that occurred at 1:29 a.m. July 20 on Route 30 at Gastville Street. Police described Lopez as a male Hispanic, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with black hair and weighing about 150 pounds.

Trespassing violation reported

Oswego police are investigating a trespassing violation that occurred at 8:43 p.m. July 13 in the 100 block of West Washington Street in the village’s downtown. Police said the incident was reported to them July 20.

Criminal damage to house

Oswego police took a report of criminal damage done to a house at noon July 9 in the 300 block of Prairieview Drive. Police said the incident was reported to them July 20, and they are investigating.
