American Legion, Auxiliary celebrate 100 years of serving veterans

The 100-year celebration of the American Legion and Auxiliary was held at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield July 14-18 with the yearly convention for statewide posts and units.

The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Illinois President Sue Cunniff Coughlin’s theme is “Celebrate our Post and Awaken Our Future Serving Veterans.”

The book of reports was dedicated to past presidents and to all officers and chairman at al levels for staying the course for two years and to all members who continued to work on our mission through this challenging time.

The Department of Illinois President for 2021-22 is Patti Williamson. The Department of Illinois Commander is Wayne Fisher.

The Parade of Colors opened the yearly convention with the 25 districts and five divisions’ Color Bearers with the American Flag and Legion Flag escorting their district and division presidents to the podium for introduction by the department president. The colors are posted for the convention.
