If you were planning to attend the Oswego Village Board committee-of-the-whole and regular board meeting this evening, Tuesday, Aug. 3, but were not intending to address the board, the village is recommending you remain at home and watch the meeting online.

In a statement issued this afternoon, Village Clerk Tina Touchette noted that Kendall County was designated as an area of substantial community spread for COVID-19 as of July 29.

In accordance with updated Centers for Disease Control guidelines, all individuals who are planning to attend this evening’s board meetings are “recommended to wear masks and maintain at least six feet of social distance while indoors to stop the spread of COVID-19 in areas of substantial or high community spread,” Touchette noted.

Hand sanitizer and disposable masks will be available for those attending the meeting. Those who are not feeling well, are asked to please stay home.

Touchette’s statement continues:

“The Village Hall Board Room will be open for the committee of the whole and regular village board meetings. However, individuals who do not intend to offer public comment are still strongly encouraged to watch remotely. Additionally, a tv monitor will be made available in the lobby so the public will be able to watch the proceedings from the Village Hall lobby as well.

“Members of the public wishing to comment during the public forum portion of public meetings may do so in person. As always, those giving public comment are asked to fill out the public participation form available in the Village Hall lobby and abide by the village’s civility code.

General comments from the public to the village board or staff can still be submitted to the village’s email address at info@oswegoil.org, however, these comments will not be read aloud at meetings. In addition, the village president and trustees welcome emails and phone calls from constituents.
