4-H, Yorkville Public Library offer STEM camp this June

Kendall County 4-H and the Yorkville Public Library are teaming up for a fun, interactive, three-day STEM experience for ages 5 to 12.

The Summer STEM camps, which will be June 14 to 16, will provide age-appropriate lessons for ages 5 to 8 in the morning session, and for ages 9 to 12 in the afternoon session. All participants will learn STEM principles while getting creative and solving problems.

Younger participants will discover static electricity, pop rockets, wind energy, flight principles, migratory patterns, and animal adaptations. The older group will build and launch their own model rockets, as well as explore robotic “bugs,” alternative energy, and water conservation and water quality.

Youth do not need to be 4-H members to participate. Cost per youth for the three-day program is $30 for the morning session (ages 5 to 8), and $40 for the afternoon session (ages 9 to 12).
