Oswego police urge public to report ATVs, other off-road vehicles using streets

The Oswego Police Department is urging residents to report dirt bikes, ATVs and other off-road vehicles observed using public streets.

In an April 9 Facebook post, the department reported an increase in the number of complaints regarding off-road vehicles on roadways.

“The Oswego Police Department has had an increase in dirt bike, off-road motorcycle and ATV complaints,” the post read. “These complaints include the subjects using the roadways as part of their means of travel.”

Due to the “overwhelming safety concerns,” the department is asking members of the public to report active sightings to the non-emergency KenCom dispatch number at 630-554-3426.

“We are also asking any neighbors to provide information (can be anonymous) if they have seen these types of subjects coming and going to/from their home,” the post continued.

The public is asked to provide a brief description if possible, as well as an address location.

Reports can be direct messaged to the OPD through Facebook, made by calling the department at 630-551-7350, or by calling Kendall County Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
