Fox Valley Winery will move to Oswego’s Main Street

The Fox Valley Winery, currently at 5600 Route 34 in Oswego, will move to Main Street.

The winery will locate in a space currently occupied by Oswego Cyclery at 59 Main St. Oswego Cyclery, meanwhile, will move its shop into a storefront on the north side of the 59 Main Street building.

Village President Troy Parlier announced the pending moves during his annual State of the Village address Wednesday, March 3, at Classic Cinemas Kendall 11 Theater at 95 Fifth St.

“This is maybe the best, this has me excited,” Parlier said of the winery’s move to Main Street.

The winery’s new location, Parlier told the audience, will offer indoor and outdoor areas for wine tasting, and wines will be produced on-site.

“We’re going to have our wine bar downtown, finally, and we can enjoy it out in the open air,” Parlier added. “It’s a great thing happening.”

The building at 59 Main Street, constructed in the early 1950s by the Oswego Fire Protection District as a fire station, also serves as the site for Oswego Brewing Company, a craft brewer, on the building’s lower level.

The winery has been in operation at its Route 34 location, about one-half mile from downtown, since 2004.

Over the years, the winery has served as the host winery for Oswego’s popular annual spring “Wine on the Fox” celebration.

The winery announced plans to relocate from its current site earlier this year. Since that time, the Oswego Village Board has approved a special-use permit to allow for a funeral home to locate in the winery building.

A timeline for the winery’s move and construction has not been announced, but Parlier said designs for the project have been released.
