Grant from TC Energy Foundation funds the purchase of lab equipment at IVVC

A $5,000 donation from TC Energy Foundation has funded purchases that will improve laboratory experiences for Indian Valley Vocational Center students in the Certified Nurse Assistant and Emergency Medical Services programs.

The grant provides funds for adjustable electric hospital beds to be used by students in the school’s CNA laboratory. There, students will practice the skills required to receive state CNA certification, such as patient transfers and personal care. Highly trained CNA workers will enter the pipeline of skilled health care workers helping to meet increased needs.

The grant also funds the purchase of a respirator fit test kit that will benefit EMS students. For these students, training involves real-world experiences of ambulance ride-alongs and running emergency calls at the local fire department. The kit will be used to fit students with required N-95 masks, allowing these important learning opportunities to continue.

TC Energy Foundation, which has a regional office in Sandwich and operates the nearby ANR Pipeline, has helped IVVC fund other innovative projects in recent years.
