Kendall County Board chairman files to run for Congress in 14th District

Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder is planning a run for Congress.

Gryder has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run as a Republican candidate for Congress from the 14th District.

The party primary election will be held June 28.

The 14th District seat is currently held by Lauren Underwood, a Democrat from Naperville. Underwood was elected to a second term in Congress in November 2020.

A Kendall County native and Oswego resident, Gryder was not immediately available for comment.

Gryder has served on the county board since 2012.

Prior to being elected to the board, he served on the Oswego Public Library District Board of Trustees and as chairman of the Oswego Plan Commission.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of Ilinois-Springfield and a juris doctor from DePaul University College of Law.
