Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird touted his office’s use of social media to county officials Tuesday, June 15, citing how someone used the sheriff’s office’s app to locate two runaway girls late last month.

Baird told the County Board that the runaways were found in about an hour May 26 after the sheriff’s office advised the public of the situation through its smartphone app.

“Somebody who was on it was able to identify the girl,” Baird said.

The local 12-year-old runaway was found with another girl who was reported missing to the Aurora Police Department.

“We were able to recover them, get Aurora here and successfully reunite the juveniles,” Baird said.
