Montgomery village president to run un-opposed in April election

Three incumbents also file petitions seeking to retain board seats in next spring’s balloting

Montgomery Village President Matt Brolley will not be challenged in his bid for election to a third, four-year term as village president in the April 6 consolidated local election.

Brolley was the only candidate to file petitions to run for the village president’s position when a one week filing period deadline closed last month, according to information provided by the village.

Brolley was first elected village president in 2013 and then ran-opposed for re-election in 2017.

Meanwhile, a long-time village board member, Denny Lee, chose not to file petitions to run for another board term.

Filing to run for the four open seats on the board were incumbents Steve Jungermann of 2109 Emma Avenue, Tom Betsinger of 3153 Buchanan Lane, and Theresa Sperling of 1659 Lexington Drive.

Also filing petitions were Penny Fitzpatrick of 1807 Winmont Court, Marion Bond of 3003 Foxmoor Drive, and Matthew Bauman of 2929 Manchester Drive.

Bauman is currently serving on the Oswego School District 308 Board of Education.
