OSWEGO – The Oswego School District 308 Board of Education has banned a parent from district property in connection with an incident in which the parent allegedly accosted a high school principal.

Members of the school board approved the no trespass order at the Oct. 25 regular board meeting.

In open session, school board attorney Maureen Lemon told the board that the parent had made threatening comments to the principal of Oswego East High School and had “lunged” at the school official.

Lemon, citing the district’s policy on invoking a no trespass order, said that the parent had waived the right to a hearing. The board subsequently approved the order.

It is unclear when, where and under what circumstances the incident took place, whether the parent made physical contact with the principal, or how the incident was resolved.

After the meeting, when asked for details, Lemon directed questions to school district Communications Director Theresa Komitas.

In an email, Komitas requested that any questions be submitted in writing.

After a series of questions was submitted, Komitas related that the district’s legal counsel had advised school officials to make no comment.
