BREAKING: Bus driver absences force remote learning today for Oswego School District junior high and high school students

Oswego School District 308 junior high and high school students will be participating in remote learning only today and the district’s Early Learning classes have been canceled due to a shortage of bus drivers.

“Due to a large number of bus driver absences today we cannot accommodate transportation for all students,” OSD 308 officials announced in an online statement posted Sept. 21.

A revised schedule provided by the district has high school and junior high students in remote learning today and the school buildings closed for student attendance.

Staff are asked to still report to school, while information regarding after-school clubs and activities will be sent later in the day.

Junior high and high school students are asked to use their normal schedule to log into their Google Classroom for each class at its normal time for instructions. Teachers will put Google meet links in their Google classrooms so that instruction and interaction can still occur.

Elementary schools are open for in-person attendance at normal times. Buses will still run “but there will likely be large delays.” Absences are excused.

Early learning classes are canceled for today, with the exception of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program.

Out of district placement students will still attend school as normal with transportation not impacted.

Elementary instruction for East View Academy students will be in person and buses will run for those students, however, junior high and high school student instruction will be remote.

The GOAL program and the Transition/Pathways program will be remote learning today with no in-person student attendance.
