Driver cited in downtown Yorkville crash, one injured

One motorist was ticketed and another motorist injured in a crash Monday evening, Nov. 29, in downtown Yorkville.

Yorkville police cited Karen L. Benesh, 76, of the 14000 block of Briel Court, Hinckley, for failure to yield at intersection after responding to the crash at 5:28 p.m., Nov. 29, in the area of West Main Street and Route 47.

Officers reported that a vehicle driven by Benesh allegedly struck the front driver’s side quarter panel of a second vehicle, causing heavy damage. The second vehicle then continued south on Route 47, entering the front yard of a residence in the 100 block of West Main Street, striking a wooden box and a small tree on the property.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to an area hospital for treatment, while Benesh signed a refusal of treatment. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
