Montgomery man dies from injuries after being hit by vehicle on Route 30

Police say victim was attempting to cross highway just east of Horesman Trail Wednesday night

A Montgomery man has died from injuries he sustained when struck by a motor vehicle at 8:26 p.m. Sept. 1 on Route 30 near Horseman Trail in Montgomery, according to Montgomery police.

In a statement, police identified the deceased as Bruce A. Richmeier, 64, of the 800 block of Victoria Drive.

Police said Richmeier was attempting to cross Route 30 just east of Horseman Trail when he was struck by a single vehicle that was proceeding eastbound on the highway.

“The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle stopped immediately, notified 911, and remained on-scene throughout the initial investigation,” police said.

Richmeier was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they will not release the identity of the driver, a 17 year-old male. In addition, they said the driver has not been charged with any crimes at this time and is cooperating with the investigation.
