Plano police investigating theft of multiple vehicles from Dempsey Dodge

The Plano Police Department is investigating the early-morning theft of multiple vehicles from the Dempsey Dodge dealership.

In a press statement, police said they responded to a burglar alarm at 4 a.m., Aug. 24, at the dealership at 1000 Route 34.

Upon arrival, multiple vehicles fled the scene, police stated. While turning onto Eldamain Road, one vehicle crashed into two parked cars at Car Connection, 1947 Route 34, and another vehicle crashed into the rear of a Plano Police Department squad car. The officer was uninjured.

Three unidentified males fled the scene on foot at that point, the statement continued.

After a short foot chase, an unidentified 18-year-old male was taken into custody in the area of Route 34 and Eldamain Road, the statement read.

Two stolen vehicles have since been recovered, and two individuals are in custody.

Police said they are being assisted by Ken Com Dispatch, the Genoa Police Department K9 Unit, Yorkville Police Department, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Kendall County Sheriff’s Office including drone and K9 units, Sugar Grove Police Department, Oswego Police Department, Sandwich Police Department, as well as others.
