High school sports roundup for Wednesday, Aug. 25: Medalist Camden Bonney, Oswego East golfers sweep SPC duals to stay unbeaten

BOYS GOLF

Oswego East 153, Plainfield East 174, Romeoville 191

Medalist Camden Bonney shot an even par 36, Gavin Hjelle carded a 37, Michael Hugelier a 39 and Eric Lewis a 41 for the Wolves (4-0).

Plainfield North 156, Yorkville 172, Plainfield South 188

The Foxes split their SPC matches, beating Plainfield South and losing to Plainfield North. Ryan Waugh paced Yorkville with a 1-under par 35. Evan Stribiak carded a 44, Mikey Bass turned in a 47 and Ty Kukielka posted a 48.

Newark/Serena

Newark/Serena beat Somonauk on Wednesday at Edgebrook Golf Club in Sandwich. Cam Figgins was the lower scorer with a 44, followed by Carson Baker’s 46, Dylan Cartwright’s 47 and Braxton Hart with a 48 to round it out.

Oswego

The Panthers lost a tough match to Minooka in the heat at Heritage Bluffs Golf Course. The Panthers were led by medalist Jack Rimington, who shot a 37, Ryan Soyke (45), Ty Ahrens (46), and Wade Menard (50).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Moline d. Newark 25-16, 25-21

Megan Williams had 10 kills, Grace Thrall six kills, Taylor Kruster 13 digs and Lauren Ulrich 18 assists for the Lady Norsemen in their season opener against Class 4A power Moline.

GIRLS TENNIS

Yorkville 4, Romeoville 3

Yorkville’s Kaitlyn Hix won her No. 3 singles match, with Foxes getting doubles wins from Kylie May and Lizzy Taylor, Payton Reilly and Kylee Sandon and Ashley Dasenbrock and Alana Burger.

Yorkville JV 7, Romeoville 0

The Foxes were led by the No. 3 doubles team of Olivia Hernandez and Trinity Stewart who defeated Samira Gallardo and Gabrielle Guillen 8-3. The No. 4 doubles team of Jadien Pattermann and Natalia Maldonado defeated Aba Chondhury and Sara Ghabayen 8-0.
