Sycamore 45, Sandwich 40

Claire Roberts scored 16 points and Josie Ness and Claire Allen added 11 for Sandwich (10-4, 8-4), which gave conference leader Sycamore all it could handle in it closest Interstate Eight game of the season. Sandwich led 15-7 after a quarter and 23-16 at half, the two teams tied 29-29 at the end of the third quarter.

“Our girls played their hearts out,” Sandwich coach Chris Johnson said. “I can only imagine how tired they are mentally and physically. But we held Sycamore to no three point made baskets, something I will bet no one else has done. We ended up making 18 of 22 free throws, which is awesome. We had three girls in double figures. So even though it is disappointing to lose, this game showed us and our opponents that we can play with anyone.”
