High school sports roundup for Wednesday, Nov. 24: Jason Jakstys’ 18 points pace Yorkville to season-opening win

BOYS BASKETBALL

Yorkville 55, Rochelle 50

The Foxes opened their season with a win at the Strombom Tournament in Sycamore. Jason Jakstys led Yorkville with 18 points (7-9 from the FT line), Nate Kraus and Justin Jakstys scored 11 points each and LeBaron Lee added 10 points.

Yorkville Christian 87, Kankakee 60

Jaden Schutt had 28 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to lead the Mustangs (2-0) into the semifinals of the Tournament of Champions in Washington. David Douglas added 16 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Oswego East 52, Naperville North 37

Mekhi Lowery had 10 points and 15 rebounds, Ryan Johnson 11 points and four assists and Darren Oregon 10 points and five rebounds for the Wolves (3-0) at the Hoops for Healing Tournament at Naperville North.

West Aurora 52, Oswego 19

Ty Rogers scored 24 points and Kenyon Weekley added 14 to pace the Blackhawks (2-1) past Oswego (0-3) at the Hoops for Healing Tournament.
