High school sports roundup for Monday, Sept. 13: Yorkville volleyball beats La Salle-Peru in two sets, improves to 12-1

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Yorkville d. La Salle-Peru 25-9, 25-22

Hailey Fedanzo-Dudley closed out the first set with a kill, and the Foxes (12-1) capitalized on a LP error to win the second set. The Foxes return to action with a conference matchup at Minooka on Thursday.

Ella Bourque had nine kills, 12 assists and eight digs, Saige Avery four kills and 14 assists, Keelyn Muell 10 kills and four digs and Janelle Pye-Blacknard six kills and four digs.

Sandwich d. Rochelle 25-11, 25-21

Alexis Sexton had 19 assists and five digs, Alana Stahl nine service points and five kills, Claire Allen eight kills, five service points and two blocks and Audrey Rome seven kills, seven points and three digs for the Indians (9-7, 1-1).

Oswego East 0, Wheaton North 0

The Wolves stayed unbeaten, playing Wheaton North to a draw.

Kaneland 9, Sandwich 0

Johnathan Carlson had 16 saves in goal for Sandwich.

The Foxes took seventh at the Ottawa Invite. Ryan Waugh shot a 73 for fourth place individually, Justin Goebel followed with a 79, Michael Hilker a 90 and Nick DiVito a 91.

Oswego East 161, Plainfield Central 178

Oswego East’s Camden Bonney shot a 37 to earn medalist honors in a dual meet held Monday at Fox Bend. Gavin Hjelle shot a 40, Aaron Carson a 41 and Michael Hugelier a 43.

The Wolves on Friday shot a combined 311 to take sixth place at the 19-team Batavia Invite. Hjelle carded a 73 to take ninth individually.

Plainfield East 178, Yorkville 189

Yorkville’s Mia Natividad shot a 36 to earn medalist honors at a dual meet at Prairie Bluff. Laine Leonard carded a 43, Grace Taylor a 50 and Cassidy Madden a 52.

La Salle-Peru 215, Earlville 221, Sandwich 237

Sandwich’s Alijah Campbell was the meet medalist, shooting a 37 at Edgebrook. Melody Goldstein scored a 60. Jayden Baumbach and Georgia Vehe finished with scores of 63 and 67.
