Kendall County COVID-19 death toll now stands at 99

Weekly health department report shows 46% of county’s residents are fully vaccinated

The Kendall County Health Department reported the death of another county resident due to COVID-19 Thursday, June 17.

The department reported the death in a weekly COVID-19 case and vaccination update.

According to department data, the total number of county residents to die from COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020 now stands at 99.

In addition, the health department reported 20 new confirmed cases of the virus among county residents over the past week.

The 20 new cases is less than the 36 new cases reported by the department for the seven-day period that ended June 11 and the 37 new cases reported by the department for the seven-day period that ended June 3.

In a related matter, the health department reported that 59,234 or 46.13% of the county’s 127,915 residents were fully vaccinated for the virus as of June 17.

The county’s vaccination rate of 46.13% is slightly higher than 46.08% of all Illinois residents who are vaccinated as of Thursday, according to Illinois Department of Public Health data.

Since the pandemic began a total of 13,873 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in county residents, the health department data shows.
