Kendall County Health Department reports another COVID-19 death; total now at 76

The Kendall County Health Department reported the death of another county resident from COVID-19 on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

In a statement, the health department described the victim as a male in his 70s.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time,” health department officials said in the statement.

The death brings the total number of county residents who have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic began last March to 76, and the third this week.

As on Wednesday, the health department reported 60 new COVID-19 cases among county residents.

That brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county to 10,256, with 5,364 as listed in recovery, according to the health department.

According to Illinois Department of Public Health data as of Wednesday, 10,666 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the 60548 ZIP code (including Sandwich) with 1,094 confirmed cases, 9,691 tested in 60545 (including Plano) with 1,285 confirmed cases, 22,620 tested in 60560 (including Yorkville) with 2,105 confirmed cases, 20,991 tested in 60538 (including Montgomery) with 2,462 confirmed cases and 27,286 tested in 60543 (including Oswego) with 2,826 confirmed cases.

People ages 20 to 49 make up the majority of COVID-19 cases in Kendall County, according to county health data. People in their 20s make up 17.6% of all cases, while people in their 30s make up 18.2%. People in their 40s make up 19.2% of the cases as of Wednesday.

Residents ages 60 and older comprise about 11% of all cases in the county, according to the county health department data. People younger than 20 make up 17.4% of all county cases.

Women account for 53% of county COVID-19 cases, while men account for 47%, according to Wednesday’s county health department data.
