Boys Basketball: The Record Newspapers All-Area team

Here is the Record Newspapers All-Area boys basketball team.

First Team

Mason Accidentale, Plano, senior: Three-year varsity starter averaged 18.9 points and made 109 3-pointers at a 44.1% rate, and shot 84% at the free-throw line. Accidentale broke Plano’s single-season 3-point record as a sophomore.

Mekhi Lowery, Oswego East, junior: All-conference selection and third team IBCA All-State pick helped lead 33-2 Wolves to program win record and Oswego East’s second sectional final. Lowery averaged 11.5 points, third on Wolves, with team-high 7.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.1 blocks.

Patrick Robinson, Oswego East, senior: Missouri-St. Louis recruit helped 33-2 Wolves smash program win record and reach program’s second sectional final. All-conference pick and Special Mention IBCA All-Stater averaged team-high 13.9 points and 4.2 rebounds, second on Wolves.

Jaden Schutt, Yorkville Christian, senior: Repeat Player of the Year, unanimous Associated Press Class 1A first team All-State pick and Duke recruit led Yorkville Christian to its first state title. Schutt averaged 24.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals and made 114 3-pointers, a 39% clip. Finished his career with 2,322 points and 334 3-pointers.

K.J. Vasser, Yorkville Christian, senior: Associated Press second team All-State pick helped lead Yorkville Christian to its first state title with a 40-point average margin of victory in the playoffs, the most dominant Class 1A champ in the four-class era. Vasser averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists and made 116 3-pointers, a 42% rate.

Second Team

Tyler Burrows, Yorkville Christian, senior: Two-year starting guard for Mustangs helped lead Yorkville Christian to its first state championship. Burrows averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals.

Jason Jakstys, Yorkville, sophomore: The talented 6-foot-8 post enjoyed a stellar first varsity season. Jakstys averaged 15 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

LeBaron Lee, Yorkville, junior: Illinois State baseball recruit as a pitcher enjoyed stellar season on the hardwood. The 6-foot-4 post averaged 15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, both team highs, and twice registered career highs of 27 points.

DeVon Oregon, Oswego East, senior: All-conference pick helped lead 33-2 Wolves to program win record and second sectional final in school history. Oregon averaged 12.2 points, second on Oswego East, 2.2 assists, 1.9 steals and shot 82.7% from the free-throw line.

Max Niesman, Oswego, junior: Second-year starting varsity guard averaged team-high 11.4 points, 2.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game, second on Panthers. Also averaged 1.4 steals.
