Sugar Grove Police Reports: July 8-Aug. 10

• Kayla R. Viravec, 32, of the 800 block of Queens Gate Circle, Sugar Grove, was charged Aug. 5 with two counts of domestic battery. Police were called to the residence shortly after 6 a.m. where they found the victim shirtless, seated in a pool of French vanilla coffee creamer with a fresh bleeding cut to his right knuckle, the report stated. Viravec said the victim was abusive and she was defending herself, the report stated. The victim told police Viravec pushed him down, kicked him down, but then stated he fell down trying to get away from her during an argument in which she allegedly threw creamer and other kitchen items at him, the report stated. Viravec is to appear in court Sept. 10.

• A house under construction in the 500 block of Ridgeview Lane was reported vandalized Aug. 10. Paint was spilled in the living area floor, on the floor and wall near the basement stairs and inside of air ducts in the master bathroom. A bottle containing what appeared and smelled like urine was also found in an air duct in the master bathroom water closet – along with a Cheetos Flaming Hot snack bag on the floor of the shower, the report stated. Latent fingerprints were obtained from the Cheetos bag.

• A resident of the 100 block of Terry Drive reported July 16 that two swords he bought for $3,500 from a merchant at a Renaissance Fair were not delivered. The merchant realized he wrote the wrong P.O. Box on the shipping label and the swords were delivered to someone else at the Sugar Grove Post Office, the report stated. Police planned to speak to the Post Master about who holds the box where the swords were delivered, the report stated.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen July 15 from a business van of Atlas Refrigeration, 720 Heartland Drive.

• Steve Silva, 26, of the 200 block of South York Road, Bensenville, was arrested July 14 on an outstanding warrant from DuPage County. Police stopped the white Mercedes-Benz box truck shortly before 10:30 p.m. traveling south on Gordon at Galena with expired registration, the report stated. Silva was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving a vehicle without a valid safety certificate and improper registration sticker display, the report stated.

• Four catalytic converters were reported stolen July 8 from business trucks belonging to Quantum Sign Corporation, 693 Heartland Drive.

• A storage space unit was reported burglarized July 27 at Space Center Self Storage, 1975 Bucktail Lane. The unit did not have a lock in place and it was evident that its contents had been rummaged through, causing $200 damage to glassware, the report stated.

• A garbage can was set on fire July 25 in the parking lot of the Sugar Grove Sports Complex, 901 Wheeler Road. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, police found a thin plastic rope leading up to the garbage can with two rubber gloves tied to the end, the report stated. Firefighters told police it appeared that an eighth of the can was filled with a fuel accelerant, possibly diesel or kerosene, the report stated. Police were going to review Sugar Grove Park District surveillance cameras, the report stated.
