Volunteers needed to plant thousands of daffodil bulbs in St. Charles

Planting will take place Saturday

The River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles is looking for volunteers to help plant more daffodil bulbs and Virginia blue bells along Rte. 31 at Mount St. Mary Park.

Planting begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 16 All ages and abilities welcome. Those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

With the help of volunteers, the nonprofit River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles planted more than 5,000 daffodil bulbs last October around the popular Mr. Eggward sculpture. The group on Oct. 16 plans to plant another 5,000 daffodil bulbs next to last year’s planting area.

In addition to the daffodil bulbs, volunteers will also be planting 150 native Virginia bluebells throughout the new planting area.
