St. Charles plan commissioner poised to be appointed to county board

Longtime St. Charles Plan Commission Chair Todd Wallace is expected to join the Kane County Board and fill the vacant District 13 seat.

The district represents residents of St. Charles and the northwest part of Geneva, though the lines of the district will change after the mandatory redistricting that occurs every 10 years. That pending change was a point of contention in naming a replacement for Steve Weber, a Republican who stepped down from the board after being sworn in as a new member of the St. Charles City Council.

Wallace, like Weber, is a Republican and was one of three finalists selected by a bipartisan committee. But he is the only one of the three finalists to live within the boundaries of the current district and the proposed boundaries of the District 13 that will exist after redistricting. An appointment to the seat now will give him the advantage of incumbent status in running for a full term in the next election.

Wallace is an attorney and vice president of the State Bank of Geneva, according to his LinkedIn profile. St. Charles residents may recognize him for his 17 years of service on the St. Charles Plan Commission or his time as a St. Charles Township trustee.

He was the unanimous selection of the bipartisan task force charged with recommending a replacement for Weber. The full county board must vote on the appointment at its next meeting July 13 before Wallace can begin his term.
