Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley to pair community potluck with tasty discussion

The Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley invites area residents interested in healthy eating, environmental justice or related issues to attend its free community potluck picnic on Saturday.

The picnic will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. June 26, at the First Congregational Church of Geneva, 327 Hamilton St. Attendees are invited to bring a healthful dish to share, as well as their own lawn chairs, blankets and nonalcoholic drinks. They do not need to bring a dish to attend. Children and teens are welcome.

The event will include games, raffles and engaging conversation about organic foods, sustainable agriculture and the environment, a news release stated. Admission is free; COVID-19 precautions will be taken. In the event of rain, the picnic will take place inside the church.

Call ahead to reserve an accessible parking space. The event is presented by the Just Food Initiative, a nonprofit organization based in Batavia that is committed to building sustainable and just food systems, as well as restoring quality and equality to the food supply. Free-will offerings will be accepted.
