Two Judson University students were killed in a car accident Tuesday night on State Road 31 near the campus entrance in Elgin. Two other students were also injured in the crash.

According to a statement on Judson University’s website Wednesday morning, Dallas Colburn, a senior from Plano, and Nathanael Madison, a senior from Wernersville, Pa., died after the four-vehicle crash at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. The two injured students were treated at Sherman Hospital, with one student seriously hurt. All four were students in the university’s architecture program.

“We are deeply saddened and mourn this tragic loss tonight. We grieve with the families and ask for prayers for the students and their families,” said Judson University President Gene Crume in the news release. “Our prayers are also with the students who were injured and who will be impacted by this tragic accident. We continue to trust in God who walks alongside us in every situation.”

According to the Elgin Police Department, an initial investigation into the accident found that a vehicle containing all four students was traveling southbound on State Street, turning eastbound onto Judson Drive. Three vehicles traveling northbound on State Street were then involved in a chain reaction crash with the students’ vehicle. Colburn and Madison were pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two students in the vehicle were taken to the hospital.

Two more people in other vehicles were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
