To support its goal of building a Flag Day Monument in downtown Batavia, the Fox Valley Patriotic Organization plans a fundraising outing at Topgolf on April 25.
The organization was founded in 2016 to educate Americans about the history of the American flag and the “Father of Flag Day,” Dr. Bernard Cigrand, a Batavian, a news release stated. The goal is to memorialize contributions to patriotism via a permanent monument and garden area.
The monument design tells the story of the American flag and its significance in the life and passionate spirit of our country, from its inception during the American Revolution to the present day. The design incorporates history, science and the arts, while capturing the stories and events in a beautiful and educational way, the release stated.
“Every visitor will walk away with an appreciation for our flag, our nation, and the sacrifice that was made by so many for the freedoms we enjoy today,” organizers stated.
The Topgolf benefit will be a great, safe and fun event, with raffle prizes, games and food, the release stated, adding, “Grab a group of six for your own bay.”
“Swinging for the Stars & Stripes” takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at Topgolf in Naperville. You don’t have to be a golfer to play, and you don’t have to bring clubs unless you want to, Topgolf notes. The cost is $75 for a single, or $400 for a bay of six people.
