Four candidates vying for open seat on St. Charles City Council

St. Charles aldermen Monday night will interview four candidates vying for an empty seat on the St. Charles City Council.

The vacancy was created following last month’s resignation of longtime 1st Ward Alderman Dan Stellato. St. Charles Mayor Lora Vitek, with the advice and consent of the City Council, will appoint someone to finish out his term, which doesn’t expire until 2023.

The interviews will take place in closed session and the selected candidate will be nominated for City Council approval at a future City Council meeting. The candidates include Richard Balla Jr., who was not successful in his bid to defeat 1st Ward Alderman Ron Silkaitis in the April election; Zachary Ewoldt; Thomas Galante and Don Kage.
