Two men burglarize Batavia resident after scamming their way into house

The suspects told the homeowner that there was a water problem in the house

BATAVIA – The Batavia Police Department is warning residents about a residential burglary that happened Wednesday, July 17 in the 1100 block of Chillem Drive.

According to a news release, officers arrived at the home around 7 p.m. where the homeowner told them two men came to the house at 3 p.m., telling the homeowner that there was a water problem that needed to be checked out.

The homeowner noticed that items were missing after the two men left the house, the release stated.

The Batavia Police Department is reminding residents to be careful when allowing subjects into their homes when they have not been invited or have not been requested, especially when they are basing their entry on some sort of repair problem.
