South Elgin man charged with attempted murder

A South Elgin man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly cut the throat of the victim with a knife and also stabbed the victim.

Jordan Scott Christensen, 33, of the 1700 block of River Road, South Elgin, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed violence, aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, all felonies. He is in custody at the Kane County Jail on $500,000 bail, with 10 percent ($50,000) to apply for bond.

According to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, during the morning of Sept. 29, Christensen allegedly cut the victim’s throat with a spring-loaded knife and stabbed the victim on the left side of the neck and near the victim’s ear multiple times, causing great bodily harm.

Christensen knows the victim, the release stated. The South Elgin Police Department and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force investigated the incident.

His next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 13 in Courtroom 313 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
