High school sports roundup for Wednesday, June 2: Jenna Sitta records hat trick, St. Charles East soccer rolls into regional final

St. Charles East 11, Glenbard North 0

Jenna Sitta scores three goals and McKenna Gahagan had two as the Saints rolled into Saturday’s Class 3A regional final to face either Hoffman Estates or Conant. Yazmin Martinez, Mia Raschke, Mikey Hanley, Ella Stehman and Olivia Guerri had the other goals for the Saints.

St. Charles North 8, DeKalb 0

The North Stars will face Batavia, who beat Geneva 4-1, in Saturday’s regional final.

GIRLS SOFTBALL

St. Charles East 10, Rolling Meadows 0

Katie Arrambide struck out 15 batters in the five-inning Class 4A regional semifinal. The Saints senior struck out everyone except one batter, a hit by pitch. Arrambide also led the Saints’ offense with two RBIs.

Izzy Howe, Nicole Johnston, Chloe Hild, Elliott Sanders and Kayla Richardson all had RBIs for the Saints, who will face Glenbard West in the regional final on Saturday.

St. Charles North 5, Schaumburg 4

Anastasia Pappas threw four innings and went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Ashlee Chantos was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Megan Bauwens had two big RBIs and Julia Larson scored two runs for the North Stars, who advance to face Wheaton North in Thursday’s regional final.

Kaneland 14, Harvard 1

The Knights scored seven runs in the fourth inning of the Class 3A regional semifinal. McKenna Ryan allowed three hits and one run over 4.2 innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Sycamore 14, Burlington Central 0

The Spartans beat the Rockets in the Class 3A regional semifinal.
