Here is the 2021-22 Kane County Chronicle Girls Basketball All-Area team. Below is a first team of five players, followed by a second team of five players and honorable mention.
First Team
Cassidy Arni, Geneva, senior, forward: Arni helped lead Geneva to the DuKane Conference championship and a regional title. She averaged 14.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 steals and three assists a game.
Brooke Carlson, Batavia, sophomore, guard: A unanimous all-DuKane Conference selection, Carlson averaged 16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3 steals a game.
Taylor Charles, Burlington Central, senior, forward: The Kane County Chronicle Player of the Year, Charles averaged 13.5 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals a game. The Princeton commit was an IBCA Class 3A first team All-State selection and an Associated Press Class 3A second team All-State pick.
Torrie Kortan, St. Charles East, senior, guard: A four-year starter, Kortan averaged 14.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and just shy of 2 assists a game in leading the Saints to their first sectional title since 1987.
Tessa Towers, Batavia, senior, forward: The Wisconsin recruit was a unanimous all-DuKane Conference selection. She passed 1,000 points for her career and averaged 14 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks a game.
Second Team: Lexi DiOrio, St. Charles East, sophomore, guard; Alyssa Hughes, St. Charles North, junior, guard; Cali Papez, St. Charles East, senior, forward; Erin Stack, St. Charles North, senior, forward; Zosia Wrobel, Geneva, senior, forward.
Honorable Mention
