12 additional COVID-19 deaths reported in Kane County over weekend

More than 4,500 new cases reported on Monday

Illinois public officials on Monday reported 4,530 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and 12 new deaths from over the weekend.

Kane County has now seen 116,009 total cases of the virus and 1,012 people have died.

The West Suburban (DuPage and Kane counties) region’s positivity rate increased to 21.1%. Currently, 15% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity rate increased to 25.8%, and DuPage County’s increased to 18.6%.

Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable seven out of the past 10 days in this region. The region is down to 715 total COVID-19 patients in the hospital.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 64,499 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 310 additional deaths Monday from over the weekend. The IDPH received the results of 602,928 tests leading up to Monday afternoon. IDPH does not update COVID data on weekends.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 11.6%.

Illinois now has seen 2,837,861 total cases of the virus, and 30,155 people have died.
