One additional COVID-19 death reported in Kane County Monday

Six new cases reported

Illinois public officials on Monday reported six new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a man in his 50s. There were 11 new cases reported Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 59,389 total cases of the virus and 804 people have died.

The West Suburban (DuPage and Kane counties) region’s positivity rate decreased to 1.4%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity rate stayed flat at 1.9%, and DuPage County’s fell slightly to 1.2%.

Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 165 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 9 additional deaths Monday. The IDPH received the results of 25,235 tests leading up to Monday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 0.8%.

Illinois now has seen 1,387,760 total cases of the virus, and 23,070 people have died.
