Kane County continues to see low number of new COVID-19 cases

Positivity rate also remains low

Illinois public officials on Sunday reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.

There were no new cases in Kane County reported on Saturday. Kane County has now seen 59,383 total cases of the virus and 803 people have died.

The West Suburban (DuPage and Kane counties) region’s positivity rate stayed at 1.5%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity rate increased slightly from 1.8% to 1.9%, and DuPage County’s fell slightly from 1.4% to 1.3%.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 298 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 11 additional deaths Sunday. The state received the results of 35,598 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday afternoon.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate stayed at 0.9%.

Illinois has seen 1,387,595 total cases of the virus, and 23,061 people have died.
