More than 100 new COVID-19 cases reported in Kane County Wednesday

No additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Wednesday reported 102 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths. There were 94 new cases reported Tuesday.

Kane County has now seen 57,682 total cases of the virus and 768 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 105 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 5.1%. Currently, 21% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity decreased to 6.3%, and DuPage County’s decreased to 4.6%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable six out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,410 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 30 additional deaths Wednesday. The IDPH received the results of 77,670 tests leading up to Wednesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.3%.

Illinois now has seen 1,346,398 total cases of the virus, and 22,096 people have died.
