New COVID-19 cases reported in Kane County back up over 100 on Monday

Illinois public officials on Monday reported 118 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a man in his 70s. There were 73 new cases reported Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 57,486 total cases of the virus and 767 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 103 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 5.2%. Currently, 22% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity decreased to 6.6%, and DuPage County’s decreased to 4.5%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable six out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,049 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 28 additional deaths Monday. The IDPH received the results of 49,473 tests leading up to Monday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.4%.

Illinois now has seen 1,341,777 total cases of the virus, and 22,047 people have died.
