New COVID-19 cases in Kane County back up again Thursday

Three additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Thursday reported 153 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and three new deaths, a man in his 50s, a woman in her 60s and a man in his 60s. There were 106 new cases reported Wednesday.

Kane County has now seen 56,108 total cases of the virus and 756 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 92 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 6.0%. Currently, 22% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average decreased to 7.5%, and DuPage County’s decreased to 5.2%.

Hospitalizations have increased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,170 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 33 additional deaths Thursday. The IDPH received the results of 88,336 tests leading up to Thursday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.8%.

Illinois now has seen 1,312,722 total cases of the virus, and 21,755 people have died.
