New COVID-19 cases in Kane County increase Tuesday after days of declines

No additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Tuesday reported 160 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths. There were 111 cases reported Monday.

Kane County has now seen 55,849 total cases of the virus and 753 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 90 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 6.2%. Currently, 22% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average went down to 7.5%, and DuPage County’s decreased to 5.5%.

Hospitalizations have increased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,587 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 9 additional deaths Tuesday. The IDPH received the results of 62,406 tests leading up to Tuesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.8%.

Illinois now has seen 1,306,787 total cases of the virus, and 21,694 people have died.
