Illinois public officials on Wednesday reported 130 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a man in his 30s. There were 154 cases reported Tuesday.
Kane County has now seen 54,919 total cases of the virus and 750 people have died.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 84 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate stayed flat at 7.4%. Currently, 24% of ICU beds are available.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 8.4% and DuPage County’s decreased to 6.9%.
Hospitalizations have increased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,536 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 31 additional deaths Wednesday. The IDPH received the results of 88,390 tests leading up to Wednesday afternoon.
According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 4.2%.
Illinois now has seen 1,288,934 total cases of the virus, and 21,570 people have died.
