More than 180 new COVID-19 cases reported Friday in Kane County

Two additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Friday reported 184 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and two new deaths, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 60s.

Kane County has now seen 54,133 total cases of the virus and 747 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 79 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 7.2%. Currently, 31% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 7.9% and DuPage County’s increased to 6.9%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,004 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 21 additional deaths Friday. The IDPH received the results of 101,737 tests leading up to Friday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 4.2%.

Illinois now has seen 1,273,200 total cases of the virus, and 21,476 people have died.
