New COVID-19 cases in Kane County up slightly on Friday

No additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Friday reported 66 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths. The case count is an increase from the 58 new cases reported Thursday.

Kane County has now seen 51,118 total cases of the virus and 723 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 44 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 4.5%. Currently, 32% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 82 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 5.0% and DuPage County is at 4.2%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for eight out of the last 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,442 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 33 additional deaths Friday. The IDPH received the results of 103,336 tests leading up to Friday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 2.2%.

Illinois now has seen 1,194,702 total cases of the virus, and 20,700 people have died.
