Illinois public officials on Saturday reported 71 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and two new deaths, a man in his 70s and a man in his 80s. That case count is a decrease from the 156 cases reported Friday.
Kane County has now seen 50,666 total cases of the virus and 716 people have died.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 38 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 3.6%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.
The region has 76 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 3.8% and DuPage County is at 3.5%.
Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for nine out of the last 10 days in this region.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,780 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 34 additional deaths Saturday. The IDPH received the results of 81,668 tests leading up to Saturday afternoon.
According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 2.4%.
Illinois now has seen 1,185,447 total cases of the virus, and 20,494 people have died.
