Illinois public officials on Friday reported 156 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a man in his 80s. The case count is an increase from the 104 cases reported Thursday.
Kane County has now seen 50,595 total cases of the virus and 714 people have died.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 37 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 3.7%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.
The region has 75 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 3.9%, and DuPage County is at 3.6%.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,441 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 55 additional deaths Friday. The IDPH received the results of 92,256 tests leading up to Friday afternoon.
According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 2.5%.
Illinois now has seen 1,183,667 total cases of the virus, and 20,460 people have died.
