New COVID-19 cases in Kane County increase on Tuesday

One additional death reported

Illinois public officials on Tuesday reported 60 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a man in his 60s. The case count is an increase from the 48 cases reported on Monday.

Kane County has now seen 50,242 total cases of the virus and 708 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 34 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 4.1%. Currently, 32% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 72 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 4.4%, and DuPage County is at 3.9%.

Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,665 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 27 additional deaths Tuesday. The IDPH received the results of 61,400 tests leading up to Tuesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 2.8%.

Illinois now has seen 1,177,320 total cases of the virus, and 20,330 people have died.
