Woman in her 40s among two new COVID-19 deaths reported in Kane County Wednesday

182 new cases reported

Illinois public officials on Wednesday reported 182 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and two new deaths, a woman in her 40s and a woman in her 90s. The case number is a slight dip from the 186 cases announced Tuesday.

Kane County has now seen 47,657 total cases of the virus and 666 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen zero days below the 6.5% threshold to advance to Phase 4. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 7.2%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 45 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average decreased to 8%, and DuPage County’s decreased to 6.7%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,751 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 81 additional deaths Wednesday. The IDPH received the results of 80,124 tests leading up to Wednesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 4.5%.

Illinois now has seen 1,112,181 total cases of the virus, and 18,964 people have died.
