New Kane County COVID-19 cases continue to remain relatively low on Monday

Five additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Monday reported 118 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and five new deaths, a woman in her 50s, a man in his 50s, a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 80s. Health officials reported 117 new cases on Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 47,289 total cases of the virus and 661 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen four consecutive days below 8% and zero days below the 6.5% threshold. The region’s positivity rate increased to 7.3%. Currently, 30% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 43 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 8.1%, and DuPage County’s remained flat at 6.8%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable six out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,944 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 49 additional deaths Monday. The IDPH received the results of 74,202 tests leading up to Monday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 4.7%.

Illinois now has seen 1,104,763 total cases of the virus, and 18,798 people have died.
