Kane County sees sharp decrease in number of COVID-19 cases Sunday

No new deaths reported Sunday

Illinois public officials on Sunday reported 117 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.

That is a substantial decrease from the 304 new cases reported on Saturday. Kane County has now seen 47,171 total cases of the virus and 656 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen four consecutive days under 8%, and zero days under the 6.5% threshold. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 7.2%. Currently, 30% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 42 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average fell from 8.3% to 8.0%, and DuPage County’s fell from 7.2% to 6.8%.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

60134 – 2,006 cases, testedHealth reported 3,292 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 40 additional deaths Sunday. The state received the results of 90,138 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate decreased from 4.9% to 4.8%

Illinois has seen 1,101,819 total cases of the virus, and 18,750 people have died.
